Acura Sound Tunnel Touchpad Experience

An ultra-low res LED tunnel I produced for Acura that plays music stems associated with animated geometrical patterns when sensor pads are touched. The tunnel is divided into 3 sections, each with unique animations and music. Multiple activations of each sensor culminate in a takeover moment where a short song plays in sync with the animations.

A low-res LED tunnel that plays music stems with associated geometrical animation patterns when sensor pads are touched. The tunnel is divided into 3 sections, each with unique animations and music. Multiple activations of each sensor culminate in a whole tunnel takeover moment where a song plays in sync with light. 

  • Timeline: 3 months
  • Deliverables: Audio and video files, assembled computer network with sensors and speakers
  • Challenges: Fixed budget and very short timeframe to concept with major changes from originally scoped build for the Hollywood Bowl escalators. 
  • Solutions: Change orders documented and communicated in real time, music composer and animator worked closely with tech director to deliver on time. 
  • Result: Won 2015 Experience Design Award for Best Entrance, happy client and innovative engagement unveiled for Acura Dealer Meeting.
