Acura Sundance Film Festival AR Engagement

iPad AR experience that I produced for Acura at Sundance Film Festival. Users sit in car seats mounted to a small platform in front of a static image of a road. A brand ambassador (BA) videos the users with the iPad, and directs them to imagine and react while a car builds around them, which the BA activates in augmented reality (AR). The video is then shareable by the users via an email to Facebook and Twitter.

One or two users sit in car seats mounted to a small platform in front of a static photo image. A brand ambassador (BA) videos the users with an iPad, and directs them to imagine and react while the BA activates an augmented reality (AR) in which a car builds around the users. The AR video is then shareable by the users via an email to Facebook and Twitter. 

  • Timeline: 6 weeks 
  • Deliverables: iOS App with lead capture functionality and video social sharing via email with link 
  • Challenges: Fixed budget and short timeframe, very small physical space in which to do video. 
  • Solutions: Used trusted devs in house, communicated and held to limited client revisions with urgency communicated for all deadlines, limited AR build to front view with carefully marked iPad position
  • Result: Won 2015 Event Tech Award for Best Handheld Tech, very pleased clients, high number of users.
