Honda HR-V Projected Media with Game

Interactive engagement I produced in which Honda HR-V had its windows painted with opaque material, and several projectors installed inside to play attract media controlled by a nearby tablet. Users could  also use externally installed iPads or their own mobile phones to virtually flick objects such as basketballs into the vehicle to understand its cargo capacity.

Honda HR-V Projection

Small SUV has windows painted with opaque material and several projectors installed inside to play attract contents triggered by a nearby tablet. Users can  also use externally installed iPads or their mobile phones with an app to digitally flick objects such as basketballs inside the vehicle until it is full.

  • Timeline: 4 months
  • Deliverables: HapQ codec video files for playback via computers running projectors, iPad and mobile phone swipe game that interacted with projection windows
  • Challenges: Fixed budget, short timeframe vehicle needed to be gutted to install projectors, initial projection material wouldn’t stick to windows, cooling issues, and alignment of content on windows.
  • Solutions: Keeping all resources in house, weekly client reviews of content and build, changed from paper projection material to spray-on material, installed numerous heavy fans for cooling, assigned media tech director to alignment issue until resolved.
  • Result: Extremely pleased clients, surprised and delighted auto show attendees attracted to media content and stayed to play game filling car with objects.
